(Apr. 27) - Carnegie Mellon withstood a second-round charge by Emory and came away with first place at the 2009 UAA Golf Championships. The 36-hole event was held at the 6,870-yard, par-71 Royal Lakes Golf and Country Club in Flowery Branch.
The Tartans shot a 305 on Tuesday to finish at 626. Emory, which started the day in fourth position, paced the field with a second-round 303 to close out at 629.

(Mar. 21) - The No. 13-ranked Emory University golf shot a second-round score of 308 at the Jekyll Island Invitational and has a team score of 617 after 36 holes. The 54-hole tourney is being held at the 6,521-yard, par-72 Oleander Course on Jekyll Island. A total of 27 teams are taking part in this year's event.

Senior Jeremy Evans stands as the Eagles' top performer thus far with his 78 on Saturday leaving him at 153. Junior John Ross checked in with a second-round effort of 78 and posts a 154. Other Emory entries include seniors Patrick Cohn (81-75--156) and Sean Madgett (77-81--158) and junior Charles Raindre (89-77--166).

Leading the tourney after 36 holes is Huntingdon at 578. Methodist (581), Oglethorpe (584) and Illinois Wesleyan (587) are all in hot pursuit of the Hawks. Final round action takes place on Sunday.

(Mar. 20) - The No. 13-ranked Emory University golf completed the first round of the Jekyll Island Invitational Friday afternoon, posting a team score of 309. The 54-hole tourney is being held at the 6,521-yard, par-72 Oleander Course on Jekyll Island. A total of 27 teams are taking part in this year's event.

Senior Jeremy Evans led the way for the Eagles with a three-over par 75 while junior John Ross finished the day with a 76. Senior Sean Madgett posted a 77 while senior Patrick Cohn rounded out the team's scorers with an 81. Junior Charles Raindre finished at 89 and freshman Mike Mullavey, playing as an individual, checked with an 80.

Leading the tourney after 18 holes is Oglethorpe University with an effort of 292. Illinois Wesleyan and Methodist are tied for second at 296.

INCLEMENT WEATHER FORCES CANCELLATION OF CALLAWAY GARDENS COLLEGIATE TOURNAMENT

(Mar. 2) - The rain and snow that swept across the Atlanta area over the weekend has forced the cancellation of the Callaway Gardens Collegiate Tournament. First-round action was to begin today but the Callaway Gardens-Mountain View Golf Course was saturated with moisture that left the course unplayable. The Eagles return to action with a dual match against Colgate on March 15 at the Celebrity Golf Club in nearby Tucker.

(Feb. 22) - The No. 14-ranked Emory men's golf team stands sixth out of 11 teams after the first round of the Pine Needles Intercollegiate. The 36-hole event is being played at the 7,015-yard, par-71 Pine Needles Lodge and Golf Club, in Southern Pines, North Carolina.

Emory fired a team score of 309 and were led by seniors Jeremy Evans and  Patrick Cohn, both of whom shot four-over par 75, good for 10th place in the 58-player field.

Holding down first place after the opening day is Greensboro at 298. Defending champion Belmont Abbey and Bridgewater College are tied for second at 301. Union University (TN) and host Guilford are fourth and fifth with scores of 306 and 308, respectively.

The tournament concludes play on Tuesday.

(Oct. 28) - The No. 12-ranked Emory University golf team concluded the fall portion of its 2008-09 schedule with a ninth-place finish at the Tom and Bettie O'Briant Memorial. The 36-hole event was played on the par-70, 6,944-yard Cardinal Golf and Country Club in Greensboro, NC.

Emory battled cool and windy conditions during the second round and checked in with a 339, giving the Eagles a final mark of 652. Taking home first place was Methodist with an showing of 599. Oglethorpe was runner-up (625) while host Guilford and Rhodes ended up deadlocked for third (626).

Sophomore Charles-Henri Raindre paced the Emory effort with a 160 (75-85) while sophomore Daniel Kmetz finished with a 161 (81-80). Other Emory scorers included senior Patrick Cohn (167) and Jeremy Evans (171).

EMORY’S JEREMY EVANS OFF TO FINE START AT DOGWOOD INVITATIONAL

(June 26) – Emory University’s Jeremy Evans got off to a solid start at the 42nd annual Dogwood Invitational on Wednesday and is tied for sixth place in one of nation’s top amateur tournaments.  The Dogwood Invitational is being played at the 6,833-yard, par-72 Druid Hills Golf Club in Atlanta.

Evans fired a five-under par 67 during the opening round, tying him with five other players.  Pacing the 90-player after 18 holes is New Zealand native Danny Lee, the 2007 Dogwood Invitational runner-up, who finished with a blazing 63.

Evans, along with playing partners Glenn Northcutt (Auburn University) and Derek Rende (UT-Chattanooga), are slated to tee off on Thursday at 12:12 p.m.

A cut will be made to the low 36 players following Friday’s round with the 72-hole event  slated to conclude on Saturday.

SECOND ANNUAL ALUMI GOLF CHALLENGE SET FOR SEPT. 27, 2008

As part of the Homecoming Festivities in the fall, the Emory Golf Team will be holding its Second Annual Alumni Challenge on Saturday, Sept. 27, at Smoke Rise Golf & Country Club. Action will get underway that afternoon at 1:00 p.m. with a Shotgun Start. This year's Challenge format will include members of the Emory squad paired with alums.

(Oct. 2) -- The Emory University men's golf team tied for sixth place out of 18 teams at the Greensboro College Invitational. The Eagles shot a 36-hole team score of 614 (304-310). Methodist College won the team title with a 579 with Guilford finishing runner-up with 594. Leading the Emory effort was senior Drew Harker with a 153 (76-77) while Jeremy Evans (75-79) and Sean Madgett (79-75) each posted 154. Patrick Cohn rounded the Eagles' scorers with a 155 (76-79). Nick Bova of Methodist claimed medalist honors with a 135.
