(Apr. 27) - Carnegie Mellon withstood a second-round charge by Emory and came away with first place at the 2009 UAA Golf Championships. The 36-hole event was held at the 6,870-yard, par-71 Royal Lakes Golf and Country Club in Flowery Branch.
The Tartans shot a 305 on Tuesday to finish at 626. Emory, which started the day in fourth position, paced the field with a second-round 303 to close out at 629.

(June 26) – Emory University’s Jeremy Evans got off to a solid start at the 42nd annual Dogwood Invitational on Wednesday and is tied for sixth place in one of nation’s top amateur tournaments. The Dogwood Invitational is being played at the 6,833-yard, par-72 Druid Hills Golf Club in Atlanta.
Evans fired a five-under par 67 during the opening round, tying him with five other players. Pacing the 90-player after 18 holes is New Zealand native Danny Lee, the 2007 Dogwood Invitational runner-up, who finished with a blazing 63.
Evans, along with playing partners Glenn Northcutt (Auburn University) and Derek Rende (UT-Chattanooga), are slated to tee off on Thursday at 12:12 p.m.
A cut will be made to the low 36 players following Friday’s round with the 72-hole event slated to conclude on Saturday.

Leading the Emory effort was senior Drew Harker with a 153 (76-77) while Jeremy Evans (75-79) and Sean Madgett (79-75) each posted 154. Patrick Cohn rounded the Eagles' scorers with a 155 (76-79). Nick Bova of Methodist claimed medalist honors with a 135.
