(Aug. 29) – The Emory University volleyball team closed out the first day of action at the Comfort Inn Challenge Friday evening by dropping a tough five-game decision to host Birmingham Southern College. The Panthers escaped with a 22-25, 25-21, 25-13, 22-25, 15-13 decision, dropping the Eagles' to at 1-1.
Senior Dani Huffman recorded a team-high 17 kills while junior Alysse Meyer chipped in 15 terminations to lead Emory in that department. Senior setter Madison Robelen doled out 48 assists and registered a team-leading 21 digs. Vista Murphy and freshman Brannan O'Neill totaled 15 and 13 digs, respectively.
Emory resumes action on Saturday with matches against Illinois Wesleyan (Noon CDT) and West Georgia (4:30 p.m. CDT).
